You are probably following the Academy awards nominations, debating what deserves best picture, who deserves acting and directing awards. Maybe you even pay attention to the costume and makeup categories. But while you are all doing that, I'm following one category that is very close to my heart - Short Animated Films.

One of the nominees this year is Oktapodi - a short film about...yes....octopi. Escaping a Greek fish market, to be exact.

Oktapodi was directed by a group of graduate students at the French animation school Gobelins. Its won a good number of awards so far, leading up to its nomination for Best Animated Short.
